released in 1993, this is one of my all time favorite melodic death metal records. first off, drummer Daniel Erlandsson (who is currently playing with Arch Enemy and Carcass i believe), has to be heard to be believed. the production isnt amazing, and the snare could sound better, but nothing is lost in the mix. from blast beats, to double kick syncopation, to complex fills, this guy is great. the guitar work is great, too. super heavy and crunchy, yet sometimes melodic and bordering on epic. these riffs will get stuck in your head. the vocals are harsh and fit the style perfectly. i feel this album really doesn't get enough praise in the metal community. there is even a song in 7/8 time, which is a little treat for us musicians.
